Across Europe, organizations defined as social enterprises have become an increasingly important entrepreneurial form over the past few decades. Despite their growing policy attractiveness and the increasing interest in this model, social enterprises are disparately understood as a social phenomenon throughout Europe and their real size is still unknown in most EU countries. To clarify their role and compare their development dynamics, the European Commission commissioned the European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (Euricse) and the EMES International Research Network (EMES) to conduct the in-depth study “Social enterprises and their ecosystems in Europe”. in EURICSE.
In the context of the study “Social enterprises and their eco-systems in Europe” the national report on Portugal, authored by Sílvia Ferreira was now published
